Compare the renewed iPhone 14 and factory renewed Galaxy S21 FE on display, performance, and value to decide which unlocked phone fits your needs.
Quick answer
Choose the renewed iPhone 14 if you prefer iOS and smooth video with Action mode; pick the factory renewed Galaxy S21 FE if you want a larger 120Hz AMOLED display and a high-resolution selfie camera. Both are 128GB unlocked options with similar catalog prices.
Display and media experience
The Galaxy S21 FE has a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, which makes scrolling and video playback look smoother. The iPhone 14 has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, offering accurate colors and deep blacks but a standard refresh rate. If you often watch videos or play games, the S21 FE's larger, faster panel is a clear advantage. For one-handed use, the iPhone 14's smaller size may be more comfortable.
Performance and software
The Galaxy S21 FE runs on an octa-core processor with 6GB RAM, while the iPhone 14 uses the A13 chip with iOS 16. Both handle everyday tasks well, but the iPhone 14's chip is optimized for iOS, which may lead to smoother long-term updates. The S21 FE's 6GB RAM helps with multitasking on Android. Your choice between iOS and Android is the biggest factor here—consider which ecosystem you rely on for apps, cloud services, and accessories.
Camera and video features
The Galaxy S21 FE features a 32MP front camera for detailed selfies and supports 1080p video recording. The iPhone 14 introduces Action mode for smooth handheld videos, a feature that appeals to casual videographers. If selfies are a priority, the S21 FE's higher-resolution front camera may be preferable. For stable video capture, the iPhone 14's Action mode is a standout. Note that both phones are renewed, so camera performance depends on the condition of the individual unit.
Connectivity and storage
Both phones offer 128GB of storage and unlocked status, so you can use them with your preferred carrier. The Galaxy S21 FE includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB-C, while the iPhone 14 uses Apple's standard connectivity (Lightning port, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0). Neither has expandable storage, so 128GB is your fixed capacity. If you need more space, consider cloud storage or a different model.
Trade-offs to weigh
- Display size and smoothness: The Galaxy S21 FE offers a larger 6.4-inch 120Hz screen, while the iPhone 14 has a smaller 6.1-inch 60Hz screen. Choose the S21 FE for a more immersive, fluid display; choose the iPhone 14 for a more compact feel.
- Operating system: The iPhone 14 runs iOS, and the Galaxy S21 FE runs Android. Your familiarity with either platform and access to purchased apps should guide your decision. Consider test-driving both OS interfaces if you're undecided.
- Camera strengths: The S21 FE has a 32MP front camera for detailed selfies; the iPhone 14 offers Action mode for smooth video. Pick based on whether you prioritize selfies or video stabilization.
- Renewed condition: Both are renewed, but the Galaxy S21 FE is factory renewed, which may indicate a more thorough refurbishment process. The iPhone 14 is renewed, and condition varies by seller. Check the seller's grading and return policy before buying. Always verify the battery health and warranty for renewed phones.
